Hospice and Palliative Care Services

Home Euthanasia

Saying goodbye to a beloved companion is something that requires compassion and support, and cannot be rushed. Your pet is most comfortable at home, and a home euthanasia is a gentle way to say goodbye including all the people that matter most. We offer extended home appointments where we move at your pace to ensure you feel well informed about your decision and the euthanasia process. Please see our detailed About Euthanasia section for more information, or request an appointment for euthanasia.

Hospice and Palliative Care

Hospice and palliative care is about living life to the fullest, and keeping your pet’s care centered at home. Our detailed approach takes all of your pet’s needs into account, as well as your goals and values when developing a personalized care plan. After the initial consultation, the frequency of ongoing communication and follow-ups with our team will be tailored to you and your pet’s needs. Providing you with knowledge of what to expect as your pet’s condition changes and having plans in place to respond to those changes is an important part of the consultation. As part of the consultation, care Comfort Kits are provided in appropriate circumstances to allow you to provide your pet with immediate relief at home when sudden changes occur. Partnering with you and your family, we help to ensure that your pet’s journey through the end of their life is as meaningful as all the moments that came before.

To request an appointment, please take the time to submit our hospice and palliative care intake form online. This allows our team to better understand your needs and prepare in advance so you can get the most out of your consultation.

Home quality of life consultations

The question that most pet caregivers struggle with is when is the right time to say goodbye? In-home quality of life consultations can help you understand your pet’s current medical status, assess their pain and overall quality of life and give context to available treatment options including end of life planning. We serve as knowledgeable and compassionate guides as you navigate the end of life decision making process. Please see our Quality of Life section for more resources. Request an appointment online or contact our client services team at 403-532-0085.

Telemedicine quality of life consultations

Phone and video quality of life consultations are available as an alternative to home consultations. These consultations can include suggestions regarding nursing care, interpretation of your pet’s behavior as it relates to pain and quality of life, direction to further avenues of veterinary support, and guidance through your thought process and feelings regarding end of life planning. Please see our Quality of Life section for more resources. Request an appointment online or contact our client services team at 403-532-0085.

*Please note that specific treatment recommendations and prescriptions cannot be provided without a veterinary-client-patient relationship established by a physical exam.
