What To Expect

When you are looking for a veterinary care clinic, you should be able to count on superior care and excellent service. We at Southpointe Pet Hospital in Calgary, Alberta have assembled an expert team of veterinary professionals to bring you the best possible healthcare for your pet. We have a state-of-the-art veterinary facility that is clean, comfortable, and efficient. Call 403-532-0085 to schedule an appointment and we will find a time that is convenient for you.

Once a year, you should take your pet in for a check-up. This will include a full physical exam. Our doctors will check the health of your pet from head to tail, and you will be very happy you came to us for our service and care.

Bring in any medical history you have of your pet when you come to our vet clinic. It’s best to keep a journal of your pet’s health throughout his or her life, including behavioural shifts. If you have something like this, share it with our team. If not, let us know everything that you think will be important. Our veterinarians can still work with whatever information you can provide.

In some circumstances, our doctors will refer you to a specialist who has advanced expertise in areas such as internal medicine or surgery.

Our appointment book is computerized, which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of their ability. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.

Urgent Care

Southpointe Pet Hospital is a general practice operating on an appointment basis, and we are not open 24 hours. While we do try to assist our regular clients with urgent care as best we can, true emergencies are best addressed by a veterinary emergency hospital.

If you feel your pet requires urgent care but is not suffering from a true emergency, then please call us at (403) 532-0085. We will advise you if there is a same-day urgent appointment available at our clinic or if we would recommend proceeding to Fish Creek 24 Hr Pet Hospital. If we are the closest clinic to you during an emergency and you do walk-in, we will stabilize your pet and assist with the transfer to an appropriate emergency hospital for on-going care.

Our clients often express that they would wish to have us provide all veterinary care for their pets at all times, and would rather not proceed to a walk-in clinic or emergency room. While we are flattered to hear this and can certainly relate to wanting to avoid a walk-in or ER visit, there are times when the care your pet requires is better or more quickly provided by a walk-in or emergency facility. Just as an emergency room physician is better qualified than your family doctor to care for your family members, there are emergency veterinarians better qualified than general practice veterinarians to provide emergency care. Emergency veterinary clinics have highly skilled staff that are experienced in emergency and critical care and are the best-qualified professionals to help in times of true emergency.
